Schindler's R.I.S.E. Robot Automates Elevator Guide Rail Installation to Boost Safety and Productivity

Schindler has developed the Robotic Installation System for Elevators (R.I.S.E.), which autonomously drills holes and installs anchor bolts for elevator guide rails. Those tasks have traditionally been physically demanding and time-consuming. Workers can monitor the robot remotely via a tablet interface from a safe distance. Since its market launch five years ago, demand has grown to a global fleet of seven robots operating across multiple international markets, with maintenance hubs currently located in Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Australia. Pneumatics play a key role in the robot's operation, enabling tool connections and stabilization.
